Within this class alone I feel like I failed several times and left several crucial point behind just from poor planning. I talked about it in my mid year reflection post as well but this class has been a tactical nightmare for me. My excuse of course is that I have children, a family, a job, and many other things that pull at my life and require my time. So in setting aside time for classes I tend to procrastinate and if you don't have a calendar of activities printed for this class then you will fail.
A LOT
It started with taping my entrepreneurial chant - seriously... it's like the easiest assignment to video tape yourself saying a mantra that is given to you. There's a point down the drain. Another time I actually did the posts; I interviewed 5 people... and I hit submit to turn in the assignment at 9:01 pm... One minute after the deadline. To be honest; this isn't much of a surprise for me. In my job and at home I have to constantly be reminded even what day it is sometimes. I'm not absent minded but my mind is very much a waffle; in that it is broken into compartments that are very much separated and occasionally syrup spills from one to the next.
There is nothing wrong with being a waffle... but you have to make sure that you're on task because often I find that I can be so laser focused on something that I will completely forget that I need to be switching compartments. This class has forced me to be more aware about my time and deadlines because there is often assignments due on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as opposed to the usual "everything before Sunday at midnight."

Hi Kenneth,
ReplyDeleteI had a similar experience in this class when submitting an assignment. Usually I had worked ahead on the assignments because I was pledging this semester and knew I had to carefully manage my time. One assignment slipped through and I found myself working on it the day it was due. I was multitasking on a couple assignments, when I finally decided to click submit, the time was 9:04 and counted as late. I wasnt even aware the assignments were due at 9 because i had been so far a head. Taught me a lesson that night.

I totally agree with you, Kenneth. I talked about the same thing in my post. This class has made me much better with my time management and managing my procrastination better. There are so many assignments due during the week that it is easy to forget some a lot of times. That is very discouraging that you could not submit an assignment because it was a little late. But I am sure that it taught you to do things ahead of time. I have learned the same lessons the hard way many times in my college career. This will just make us better students. Thank you for sharing. Great job. Check mine out at http://summerborges.blogspot.com/2016/04/my-exit-strategy.html
ReplyDeleteHey Kenneth.
ReplyDeleteI love the formatting of your blog and all the pictures. It really adds to its effectiveness. I have failed so many times this semester. Personally I feel like the interviews and time management were the hardest part of this course. Although I feel like I have learned a lot and have grown a lot.
