What was the biggest surprise for you in the
reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different
from your expectations? To
be honest; my biggest surprise was the amount of quantitative analytics in
marketing. I’m not sure why in my head
marketing was less analytical but it was interesting to read.
Identify at least one part of the reading that
was confusing to you. From what
I read; Marketing research works very much like a 360 performance review. You survey, varying groups opine and then you
adjust based on the feedback received. However,
with many entrepreneurs aiming towards a “short-term focus” are they bypassing
the research all together or simply aiming their questions towards “why would
you buy” and not “what makes you happiest.
If you were able to ask two questions to
the author, what would you ask? Why? What’s
next in advertising? I’m somewhat frustrated with social media; I know it’s
AMAZING and everyone does it but is it still the next frontier of marketing?
Was there anything you think the author was
wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How? No; I think the chapter was well written. I’ll be re-reading this one several times as
it is the biggest gap in my knowledge when it comes to an entrepreneurial venture.
